The term “Monster Girl” or “Monster Boy” is usually used to describe this genre, but we took the liberty of combining them under the umbrella of Monster Manga for simplicity. Welcome to Monster Manga! While typically romantic in nature, manga in this genre focus on the relationships between humans and monsters or monsters and other monsters regardless of whether they are platonic, romantic, or sexual. When you look at it that way, it makes sense that there is a whole genre of manga dedicated to it. Some of the biggest multimedia hits of the last three decades have had to do with stories that focus on the relationships between humans and monsters. The West has always had a fascination with vampires, werewolves, and other members of the “monster” class. If you’re a fan of paranormal or supernatural romance, then this is probably the category for you.

The "Demon" makeup reflected Simmons' cynicism and interest in the macabre, as well as his love for comic books, classic horror films & one of his heroes, actor Lon Chaney. The band explains that the fans were the ones who ultimately chose their makeup designs. With their makeup and costumes, they took on the personae of comic book-style characters: The Demon (Simmons), Starchild (Stanley), Spaceman (Frehley), and Catman (Criss). The original lineup of Paul Stanley ( vocals and rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals and bass guitar), Ace Frehley ( lead guitar and vocals), and Peter Criss ( drums, percussion and vocals) is the most successful and identifiable. The band has sold over 21 million records in the United States and their worldwide sales exceed 103 million albums. Kiss has been awarded 30 gold albums to date. Easily identified by its members' trademark face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid and late-1970s on the basis of their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitars, pyrotechnics, and a large rendition of the band's logo. There are reasons their books only come out once in a blue moon: they’re shooting for perfection and they get pretty darn close. It’s not like they have a lot of other projects going on and when you get the green light to tap into the Wizarding World for revenue…Īs you can see in the photos, Minalima does beautiful, stylized work. I mean, their business is built on this very thing. I can find nowhere where Minalima has committed to publishing the whole series or even made an announcement about the third, but I can’t help but think this is their intention. These, too, come out at a rate of about one per year and they have only published the first two. Several years back they started publishing interactive versions of literary classics at a rate of about one per year- Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Secret Garden, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Adventure of Pinocchio, and now The Wizard of Oz-and a few years ago started work on a line of interactive version of the Harry Potter series. They have continued this relationship with the Harry Potter franchise by designing the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and other marketing materials. Minalima (website HERE) is Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima (thus “minalima”), theater designers from London who started working together to come up with the graphic side (/props) of the Harry Potter movies for Warner Bros. Review: Lucy by the Sea – Elizabeth Strout (Penguin Random House) Her character Lucy Barton admits not only did she not see it coming, but even when she did notice the virus’s existence, she did not really believe it would ever reach New York. In her latest novel, Lucy by the Sea, Elizabeth Strout captures the bewilderment of us all at the onset of the pandemic. So, needless to say, both my husband and I were excited to get into this video gamer story.
